After two days of freezing rain and freezing drizzle in early January, all vegetation in our neighbourhood was covered with glaze ice. The clear ice coating is beautiful to look at but harbours dangers underfoot and overhead. Optimistic that no branch would snap and fall on our heads, we set off to our local wooded parkland with cleats on our boots to capture the beauty.
The woods were very tranquil. One of the highlights of our walk was seeing what we believe to be a large Barred Owl, who was taking great interest in a squirrel scampering around on the ground below. We watched the owl as it flew majestically from tree to tree. We “snapped” many pictures and created a one-minute video slideshow to share with you.
